Make Your Summer Pieces Work For Fall: 4 Easy (& Chic!) Ways To Transition Your Wardrobe

By Tracey Lomrantz Lester, Glamour editor

If the imminent arrival of autumn has you all, "Give up my denim cutoffs? Never!" we've got four killer ways to keep wearing your favorite summer pieces well into the chilly season...

FLORAL SUNDRESS:

It took you from a wedding on the beach to an al fresco date and about a gajillion places in between this summer, so it's understandable that you hate to see your beloved flirty frock banished to the back of the closet. Fall-ify it with a black turtleneck underneath (yes, they're totally in again this season!), a pair of ankle boots, and an animal-print handbag that adds just enough contrast to take the warm summer breeze out of this outfit.

THE BOLD MAXI:

Bright color was huge news this summer, and it'll continue to be into fall. Make your screaming neon hues work for breezier days by pairing them with tons of neutrals to tone things down. A camel blazer, a flat riding boot in classic caramel, and some chunky gold jewelry will do the trick.

SILK TANK:

That printed top you wore with shorts and miniskirts throughout August can work just as well for autumn evenings. Pair it with skinny jeans (or leather leggings!), cap-toe pumps, and chunky jewels for a girls' night out.

DENIM CUTOFFS:

Hang on to those last warm days of September by dressing up one of your most casual wardrobe staples--jean shorts. Layer on a motorcycle jacket or blazer with a long sleeve top and a scarf, and these will look just as appropriate post-Labor Day.
